Summative Entry ENGL200.

I’m not entirely sure on what counts as a summative review but I assume it’s just a summary of the course, its content and my overall feelings on it.

There was a whole bunch of new content for me within this course, As I’ve honestly never really read old literature. And while I did find it tough dealing with the language differences from Jane Austen, I did find it quite enjoyable. I never thought I would be interested within most of the texts we had to read but they have surprisingly stuck with me, whether it be through the social differences shown by Jane Austenthe challenging of the education system by Charles Dickens. Or the thought-provoking tales from Tolstoy, which honestly were probably my favourite of the course.

And while I’m nervous on the exam I think I will do alright, and honestly that nervousness may be stemming from the lack of exams I’ve done over the years, it has been around 6 years since I ever had to sit down and do multiple exams!

To anyone interested in literature and the great authors of the 19th century I would definitely recommend this course, and I look forward to Shakespeare next semester with Michael.

  1. HI Adam, you have a nice, readable style – good work. As for what constitutes a Summative Entry- this is all set out at the end of the unit outline where you have a specific question that you needed to address. You seem to have missed this. I did go over it in class a couple of times…. ???
